90 per cent of the population in Dhasa is Hindus. The rest belong to the Muslim clan. Among the Dhasa community, the Patels are the highest in number. The Rajput, Koli, Darjee, Kumbhar, Mistry, Ghanchi, Harijan, Darbar and other such communities, occupies the rest of the village. In all, three families of Sanghrajkas reside in Dhasa and Nagindas Shivlal, Arvindkumar Manilal and Deepakkumar Himmatlal head them.
Agriculture is the main occupation of Dhasa with about 60-65 % involved in it. Dhasa’s groundnut oil is quite popular with leading brands viz. Matangi and Jalaram. Shivam Pipes forms the largest company of Dhasa.
Dhasa also has a guest house called Sathrawala’s Dharmashala exclusively for Sanghrajkas that is situated near Satrasia Bapa’s temple. Ravjibhai Jivrajbhai Rajpara is the backbone of the social activities in the village. Dhasa is self-sufficient in the medical front and has doctors with MBBS degrees. Two social service organizations viz. Deepchand Seva Samiti Trust and Rajiv Gandhi Sunidhi Trust are very active in Dhasa. Dhasa has its own Gram Panchayat (the village governance body), which, until recently, was run from income generated through octroi. Recently, the state government abolished the octroi system. Now, the Panchayat is carrying on its business via the state government’s financial grant. The Gram Panchayat consists of four members, viz. an Administrator, a Secretary, a clerk and a peon. Dhrmendrasinh Gohil currently heads the Gram Panchayat. Chovadia Vaghji Becharbhai was the first Sarpanch (head of village) from 29th November 1956 to 31st July 1960. The fifth Sarpanch belonged to our community and he was Sanghrajka Traymbaklal Morarji whose illustrious tenure spanned from 3rd October 1969 to 9th January 1974.
